The benefits of spa and pool leisure are numerous including stress relief, restful sleep, alleviation of arthritic and sore muscle pain, improved circulation and increased immune system activity. How you maintain your pool water can also have a healthy effect on your skin, whether using balanced chemicals, or natural solutions like brine salt.
Did you know? Both freshwater and saltwater pools use chlorine to sanitize the water. In a freshwater system, the chlorine is delivered to the water in tablet or granule form at 1.0 and 3.0 ppm to maintain healthy levels. In a conventional freshwater pool, chlorine is added at the highest level for sanitation, then slowly dissipates so more chlorine needs to be added. With saltwater systems, there is a consistent flow of chlorine produced by your generator, so the chemical levels stay balanced.
Saltwater pools are cleaned using a salt chlorine generator. This filtering system turns salt into chlorine to clean the pool. Saltwater is becoming popular, as some people find this type of spa water less harsh on their eyes and skin. Saltwater pools are not as salty as the ocean, containing about ten times less salt, yet they are very effective for keeping the water sanitized. Salt water chlorination systems provide soft water without harsh odours and can deliver savings over conventional chlorine. They are convenient, as you do not need to mix or measure chlorine, are weatherproof, and offer automatic cell cleaning.
Of course, it’s always important to check the pH levels and alkalinity of your pool, no matter what system you choose for filtration. Your pool or spa maintenance routine will depend exclusively on the frequency of use.
