It’s that time of year again! The festive season is just around the corner and that means time off work, decorating the house, and throwing hot tub parties. But before you invite your friends over for a relaxing dip in your spa, there’s something important you need to do first—have your water analyzed. Here’s two big reasons why it’s so important.
One of the biggest dangers of neglecting to have your pool or hot tub water analyzed is the risk of bacterial contamination. Bacteria can cause all sorts of health problems, including skin infections, ear infections, stomach illnesses, and respiratory infections. Many of these infections are serious enough to require hospitalization, so it’s definitely not worth taking the risk. We will test for things like E. coli, Giardia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and other harmful bacteria. We will also check the chlorine levels and pH balance to make sure that everything is within safe limits. If any problems are found, they can be quickly corrected.
Another danger of neglecting to have your pool or hot tub water analyzed is algae growth. Algae can make your pool or hot tub water look green and murky, and it can also make it smell bad. Even worse, some types of algae can release toxins that can cause skin irritation, respiratory problems, and other health problems. So, it’s definitely not something you want to deal with. Water analysis will test for things like ammonia levels, phosphate levels, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness. These are all factors that can contribute to algae growth.
